Back Row, left to right are James Skinner, Randy Ewing, Drake Mills, John Belton, Bill Hogan, and Bill Autrey] who have joined forces to kick off our new initiative by agreeing to each signing a petition opposing family violence, donating $100.00 to our agency and agreeing to recruit at least nine other men to do the same
It is often said that the strongest force in the fight against domestice violence is men. When men take a stand against domestic violence by speaking out openly against it, and by supporting organizations which fight it, the community takes notice. The issues of domestic violence becomes more noticeable, and the crusade against it becomes more powerful.
DART invites strong men in our community, men who believe in peace and repect in their relatioships please join our Men Standing Strong Campaign.
DART was overwhelmed at the response to this project. At the end of October, 163 men had signed up to be members of Men Standing Strong. Most of the Team Leaders recruited more than nine other men, and many made a greater donation than requested.
A poster was made of the Men Standing Strong group, a vivid and powerful public awareness tool which has been displayed all over the community. The poster and the project serve as influential reminders that there are many good and strong men who are willing to take a public stand against domestic violence.
Men Standing Strong 2014 campaign was a success both financially and community awareness among men in all seven of the parishes we serve.
