About us

DART is a non-profit organization established in 1994. DART's mission is to provide services including critical emergency shelter for abused and endangered residents of our service area [Lincoln, Bienville, Claiborne, Union, Jackson, Grant, and Winn Parishes]. DART began as a small effort, but expanded from one Ruston location to a shelter and a non-residential office on Alabama Avenue as well as offices in each parish we serve. DART is the only emergency shelter of any kind in North Central Louisiana. The nearest shelters for the homeless and family violence victims are in Shreveport, Monroe, and Natchitoches. As the only emergency shelter in its seven-parish area, DART serves the residential emergency and non-residential needs of domestic violence victims in Lincoln, Bienville, Claiborne, Jackson, Union, Grant and Winn Parishes.
